IKEA, the worldwide retailer and maker of Swedish design furnishings, is not just a place to find affordable furnishings and accessories for every room in your home. It’s also a great place to find an affordable solution to lunchtime hunger.
You did not read me wrong. I’m talking about going to IKEA simply for lunch.
Now, you can’t have the weekend or holiday IKEA image in your mind. The weekday afternoon IKEA is calm and quiet. With the floor-to-ceiling windows in the second-floor restaurant that give way to a flood of natural light, this is a lunch spot where you can actually enjoy your meal—not to mention, it’s a bargain.
For only $5.99, I was able to enjoy apple-glazed salmon with steamed potatoes and orange and yellow carrots. With the addition of a whole-wheat dinner roll and a Kristian Regále, a sparkling orange juice, for only $1.98 more, I had a complete lunch for less than $8. Drive-through can’t beat that!
Other lunch options include chicken Marsala with rice pilaf and steamed veggies, chicken fingers and fries—both are only $4.99—or soup and salad for $2.99. All selections are less than $6, even the Swedish meatballs that everyone knows and loves. And don’t forget about your sweet tooth; there are five cakes to choose from, ranging in price from 99 cents to $2.59 a slice.
Next time you are in the West Sacramento area, stop in at IKEA for a
crowd-less, rush-free lunch.
