Fun, safe Halloween activities

Solano
Benicia Main Street hosts the Stroll Main Street parade, complete with a costume judging competition on Saturday, Oct. 25 and a haunted house on Friday, Oct. 31. First Street, Benicia (707) 745-9791; beniciamainstreet.com.

Dixon Downtown Association hosts a trick or treating stroll for kids. Local businesses hand out candy and costumed characters will entertain the children. 1:30-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. (707) 678-8400; downtowndixon.com.

Suisun City Fire Department hosts a costume parade starting at Driftwood Drive and Main Street, proceeding down Main Street and ending at Harbor Plaza. There will be a Halloween Family Fun Night in Vacaville at the CreekWalk with a pumpkin patch, costume contest, magic show, pie-eating contest and children’s carnival games. 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30. (707) 449-5616. Then, on Friday, Oct. 31, kids can trick or treat their way through the businesses in downtown Vacaville from 4-6 p.m. Free. (707) 451-2100.

Napa
Calistoga hosts a costume parade along Fair Way beginning at Lincoln Avenue and ending at the Napa County Fairgrounds. A Halloween carnival at the fairgrounds features a costume contest and games for kids. The parade begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct 31. (707) 942-2807.

Yountville will be throwing a Halloween Party at the Yountville Community Hall on Halloween night. Activities include games, face and tattoo painting and a costume contest. Free. 5:30-8 p.m. 6516 Yount St. (707) 944-1597.

Yolo
Downtown Woodland hosts a daylight trick-or-treat event. Businesses will hang signs outside to indicate that they have goodies for the kids. 3-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. (530) 662-7327.

Costumed kids 12 and younger can pick up free bags and trick-or-treat their way through the businesses of downtown Davis, then do crafts at the E Street Plaza; on E Street between Second and Third streets. 1-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Free. (530) 756-8763; davisdowntown.com.
